'Oggu Katha' Artist Chukka Sattaiah passes away

Hyderabad : Noted Telangana folk artist 'Oggu Katha' Chukka Sattaiah (82) passed away at his native village manikyapuram in Lingala Ghanpuram on thursday morning. Chukka Sattaiah who brought national recognition to the traditional telangana folk art and in the process earned a Sangitha Nataka Akademi Award from Ex-President APJ Abdul Kalam.
Born on June 30,1931 Mr. Sattaiah learned his art from his father Chowdarapelli Agaiah and his mother Sayamma and started performing at the age of 14. He toured the length and breadth of the country popularising the art form and gave over 12000 performances. Chief Minister KCR conveyed his condolences to the Sattaiah family memebers in a statement.
