Hyderabad: A 90-minute session ‘Telanganalo Telugu Baasha Sadhassu’ turned out to be a thought provoking one as it dwelt upon importance of language Telugu.
Speakers at the session pointed out at the fascination for foreign languages while neglecting their own mother tongue. Examples were cited of those who proudly profess their love for mother tongue even while they learn and practice English or other language. One should feel proud and happy speaking Telugu, they said.
Minister for Power G Jagadish Reddy felicitated Kovela Suprasannacharya, S Laxmana Murthy, K Muthyam, Masterji, Sujatha Shekar, Vishnu Chaithanya and others for their contribution to Telugu language.
In his address, Reddy said the conference gave him new enthusiasm and increased his love towards Telugu. “I am one of those worried at our language losing its glory,” he said.
Describing globalisation as a threat to regional languages including Telugu, he said, “We should feel proud at getting a chance to protect our own language though the conference”.
