Woman, daughter commit suicide

Rajanna-Sircilla, 22 Dec: A woman and her daughter committed suicide by hanging themselves at Indiranagar of Sircilla town here on Wednesday. Gudla Vijaya (62) and her daughter Jyothi (32) took the extreme step allegedly due to harassment and humiliation meted out by Vijaya’s eldest son over property issue.

According to the police Vijaya was married to a weaver Vishwanath and they had four children — two sons Ashok and Narendar and two daughters– Rupa and Jyothi. However, Vishwanath was staying seperately after marrying another woman. Over the period, Vijaya’s eldest son Ashok started demanding his share of property and used to torture her much. Vexed over his behaviour, Vijaya along with Jyothi committed suicide.
