Singareni Collieries achieves 11% hike in coal supply

Hyderabad: Setting new records for itself, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has achieved an average growth rate of seven per cent over the last three years. Over the last eight months in the current fiscal of 2017-18, the company achieved a growth rate of 11 per cent in coal supply and growth rate of 29 per cent in removal of overburden.

Speaking at the foundation day celebrations held in Kothagudem on Saturday, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar said the company was making new strides in coal production since the formation of Telangana State and achieving a very high growth rate consistently. He announced that 12 new mines would be opened shortly in a bid to achieve 85 million tonnes of coal production within next five years. Besides achieving 91 per cent PLF in October and securing sixth place among 25 major power plants in the country, Singareni Thermal Power Plant has recorded generation of 10,504 million units of power till November end this year and contributed about 9,817 million units to the State requirements.

“While the 800 MW power generation units are under installation, we are aiming to establish 500 MW of solar power plants in all Singareni areas in the next two-three years. This is part of our untiring efforts to play our role in realising the Bangaru Telangana dream of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao,” Sridhar said.

The SCCL Chairman said around 5,739 persons were recruited into the company since the State formation in 2014 and recruitment into another 1,427 posts will be completed within next two months. “The company is concerned about workers and their families. The company was able to provide highest ever profit bonus of 25 per cent to workers for 2016-17. Similarly, matching grant for accidental death was increased to Rs 10 lakh and natural death was increased to Rs 7.5 lakh, ” he said. He pointed out with the intiative of the Chief Minister, the Singareni management was implementing several benefits to workers including payment of Rs 25 lakh one-time settlement for medically unfit workers or a monthly pension of Rs 25,000.

Sridhar pointed out that 2,718 workers and fillers were regularised and reiterated the commitment of the company management for welfare of its workers. He urged the worker and employees of Singareni Collieries to rededicate themselves for growth of the company and play their role in development of the State. He unveiled a website of Singareni Seva Samithi on the occasion. Singareni Directors J Pavithran Kumar, S Shankar, B Bhaskar Rao, and S Chandrashekhar, along with leaders of recognised workers union participated in the celebrations.

Earlier in the day, Director (personnel administration and finance) Pavithran Kumar flagged off the 2K run organised by the SCCL. Directors S Shankar, B Bhaskhar Rao and S Chandrashekhar along with workers and employees participated in the run followed by Telangana Dhoom Dham event.
