Central Govt. puts authority of 3 States, 2 UTs under TSSOCA

Hyderabad: Considering the commendable efforts made by the Telangana State in strengthening the Seed Certification processes, the Central government on Thursday added three States and two Union Territories to the domain of the Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TSSOCA). Four States – Telangana, AP, Chhattisgarh and Odisha are already under the purview of the Authority.

Central government has now placed Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Puducherry and Lakshadweep under TSSOCA.

A communication to this effect was received by the TSSOCA on Thursday. The Telangana Certification agency within short span of time received applauds from the Central Certification Agency and international agencies.

The TSSOCA also got Executive Committee membership into International Seed Testing Agency (ISTA). It also conducted various international and national seminars, workshops in recent days where experts form South Africa, United Kingdom and Netherlands had presented topics on modalities to certify the seed and generating the quality Seed.

“Now the State government has become a nodal agency for nine Southern States to certify seeds produced by them and it is a remarkable achievement towards the making the State as Seed bowl of the Country,” said Agriculture Secretary C Partha Sarathi to Telangana Today.

TSSOCA director Keshavulu said it shows the efforts put by the State government in developing quality seeds. The responsibility of the certification agency has further raised and we try to make the State number one in Seed production in the Country.
