Hyderabad: GHMC expects to complete the construction of Level-1 flyover at Biodiversity Junction by March 2019, but it looks unlikely to meet the target going by the land acquisitions it has made till date. Not even one property has been acquired in past two years for the flyover project.

This proposed flyover will cater to the traffic moving from Gachibowli towards Khajaguda, allowing commuters to bypass Biodiversity Junction from overhead, reducing the volume of vehicles at major crossroad relatively low.

Level-1 is part of the multi-level flyover to be built as part of the Strategic Road Development Plan (SRDP).

The Level-1 flyover will extend between Care Hospital and Pakwan Grand Hotel. It is designed to be a unidirectional flyover which caters to traffic only on the left side of the road. A good 215-foot wide space will need to be acquired for the Right of Way (ROW) for the flyover.

A GHMC official said, “About 15 properties will have to be acquired for its construction. We have received consent from one property owner. Work will begin as we keep consolidating properties.”

Additionally, there are a few private properties that are under dispute and litigation. GHMC reportedly plans to deposit money in the court and take the order to proceed further, while the parties work on resolving the dispute of ownership. A GHMC official said, “If we get the land, the project can be completed in one year.”

For the Biodiversity junction to be free of traffic, these two flyovers have to be built soon. Meanwhile, for the Level-2 of the flyover GHMC has set up foundation barricades to being construction of the foundation pillars.
