Adilabad: Submission of memoranda to District Collectors demanding removal of Lambadas from ST list went off peacefully in Adilabad, Mancherial and Kumram Bheem Asifabad districts on Wednesday.
As part of an action plan of ongoing movement by Adivasis, the ethnic tribes converged in front of Collectorate and staged dharna in Adilabad. They later tried to lay siege to Collectorate. Later, Collector D Divya received a memorandum from them.
Adivasi Hakkula Porata Sangham (AHPS), Tudum Debba, State general secretary U Sanjeev said neither State nor Union government was responding to their peaceful movement. He wanted removal of Lambadas, Yerukala, Yanadi communities from the list of ST at the earliest. He urged officials to stall issuance of community certificate to these three castes.
Adivasi Vidyarthi Union State president Vedma Bojju, leaders Kodapa Ganesh, Durwa Nagesh, Durwa Sanjay, Athram Venkatesh, Salam Jangu Patel, Arka Kammu, Kodapa Vinayak, Madavi Bheem Ram and a large number of tribals belonging to several villages were present.
Meanwhile, in headquarters of Kumram Bheem Asifabad, the aboriginal tribals submitted memorandum to Joint Collector Ashok Kumar. They dropped a similar memorandum in Mancherial. They staged a dharna in front of Collectorates.
They plan to organise ‘Chalo Delhi’ on February 22. Besides, awareness programmes will be conducted on the present phase of the stir.
