Agri Minister Srinivas advises farmers to adopt poly-house farming

Jagtial: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy advised farmers to adopt poly-house farming methods to get high benefits.

The Minister distributed agriculture equipments to beneficiaries in a programme organised at Metpalli town on Sunday. Speaking on the occasion, he said farmers who were practising poly-house farming method were getting high yield and subsequent profits. The State government was providing 70 per cent subsidy to set up poly-houses, he informed.

He instructed agriculture and horticulture officials to educate farmers about poly-house farming and help them get more profits.

To provide water to one crore acres, government had expedited construction works of various projects. Informing that electricity crisis had been overcome within six months, he said that round the clock power was being supplied from January 1.

Over 40 lakh acres would get water for two crops by diverting Godavari water through reverse pumping system from Kaleshwaram. Seven pumphouses had been constructed by spending Rs 80 crore, he added.

Government is going to provide Rs 4,000 per acre (Rs 8,000 for two seasons) to farmers as investment from May. About Rs 2,000 crore have been allocated for agriculture during the last three years. The Minister said that separate budget would be introduced in the next budget session. A turmeric processing unit was being established in 42 acres with an estimated cost of Rs 50 crore near Kammarpalli in Nizamabad district, he added.
