Hyderabad: The Agriculture department has decided to develop oil palm cultivation in the State with an investment of Rs 10 crore, Agriculture Secretary C Partha Sarathi said here on Tuesday.
Speaking at the 9th State Oil Federation Board meeting at the State Secretariat, he said the government was encouraging oil palm in the State. “In addition to 17,000 hectare, the government this year has planned to add 4,000 hectare,” he said.
The government was also giving huge subsidies to procure modern equipment for the farmers, he said, adding that it had sanctioned Rs 9.8 crore for setting up special palm oil kernel units near Aswaraopet in Khammam district in the State.
