Hyderabad: Locals in West Marredpally expressed their displeasure at the road cutting work being undertaken on a portion of the road that was re-carpeted just two days ago. Many of the residents took to social media to vent their anger against the administration at the waste of money and inconvenience caused to citizens because of lack of coordination between various agencies .

In a public group on Facebook named Marredpally Days, Aamir Ahmed posted a picture of workers digging up the repaired road in the night and said he had felt that acche din (good days, the popular slogan of the Prime Minister in the 2014 election campaign) are back in Marredpally. But within 24 hours his hopes vanished.

Varun VD minced no words in his criticism. He said, all this was linked to corruption: first they lay the road and within a week it is dug up to lay sewage pipeline or cables, and the circle keeps repeating every time. Most of the comments expressed displeasure.

The Water Board is repairing the sewage pipe network from New Club and as part of this portion of the road was dug up near Vijaya Bank ATM to construct a chamber.

When asked about the development, the vice president of the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) J Ramakrishna said that the Water Board had kept the SCB in the loop about the work and that all three agencies are  working in tandem..

“SCB, GHMC and HMWS&SB are working in co-ordination on civic works in West Marredpally. GHMC is building a separate drainage line parallel to the road from Maisamma temple. The work is going slowly because underneath new cables have surfaced. At another stretch, the Water Board is repairing the sewerage network. Now that water overflowing onto the main road has been stopped, SCB has laid the road. However, final coating on the road will be done when GHMC and HMWSSB complete their work," he said.
