FISS study to be done by Karnataka official

Hyderabad: The State government’s Farmers’ Investment Support Scheme (FISS) which envisages financial assistance of Rs 4,000 per crop per acre to farmers has become an attractive initiative even before its launch. The neighbouring Karnataka State government on Saturday sends its official to get first hand information on the novel scheme.

The Karnataka State Additional Secretary Rajeev Chawla met TS Revenue principal Secretary Rajeshwar Tiwari and Agriculture Principal Secretary C Partha Sarathi at Secretariat and discussed the scheme and its highlights.

The State government officials gave in detailed Power Point Presentation to the Karnataka State official on the scheme. “He hailed the scheme and wanted it to be implemented in Karnataka, today we explained how the scheme was drafted and plans to execute,” said Agriculture Secretary C Partha Sarathi to Telangana Today. Rajeev Chawla keen to know that whether the financial assistance was extended to all the farmers in the State are limited it to only certain sections.

During the interaction TS Agriculture Secretary said the State government was first carried out intensive land purification drive to know the total cultivable extent and genuine farmers in the State and later Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had announced the Scheme.

Rajeev Chawla commanded the State government’s job in conducting land purification drive to know perfect details of the agriculture land. He also discussed mode of payment to the farmers and crops covered under the new scheme. He said Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao has taken a very bold decision to help the farming community besides giving financial support. He wondered after knowing that this scheme is even covered horticulture crops. Chawla said the Karnataka government planning to replicate the Farmers Investment Support Scheme without any riders like Telangana State.

More officials from Agriculture and Revenue departments of Karnataka State are likely to visit the State in near future to study the scheme in detail.
