TS minority residential schools get assurance of financial support from Naqvi

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Minority Affairs Mukthar Abbas Naqvi assured Central financial support for providing infrastructure facilities at minority residential schools in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts.

Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Tuesday met the Union Minister in New Delhi and sought funds for the newly set up minority residential schools in Nizamabad and Kamareddy districts. Later, speaking to media persons, Reddy said Naqvi responded positively and appreciated the State government’s support for minority education and their development.

“The TS programmes are ideal for the country,” Reddy said.

He requested the Union Minister to provide financial support for minority residential schools sanctioned at Kotagiri, Banswada, Bichkunda, Kamareddy and Lingampet towns in the two districts under Multi Sectorial Development programme. Reddy also wanted the Union Minister to sanction a Minority Urdu degree college at Banswada town.

Reddy said there were only six residential schools for minorities before 2014 in Telangana region, but after formation of the new State, 206 new residential schools were set up for minorities and the total number of residential schools and colleges set up for all communities in the State had gone up to 536, he said. He also explained that besides giving quality education, the government was also supplying food to the students. Zahirabad MP, BB Patil also was present.
