MANCHERIAL: The management of Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) declared a one-day paid holiday to its workers and arranged RTC buses for them to attend a meeting, to hear Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s speech, at Srirampur in Mancherial district and Ramagundam in Peddapalli district on Tuesday.

This drew criticism from the Opposition parties as the holiday affected coal production in the divisions where paid holiday was declared by the SCCL.

SCCL had declared the paid holiday for the workers in coal mines of Ramagundam 1, 2 and 3 divisions; Longwall mine in Peddapalli district, Srirampur, Bellampalli and Mandamarri divisions in the Mancherial district. This is the first time in the history of SCCL, a paid holiday was declared for a speech.
