Hyderabad: Decks were cleared for constitution of Farmers Associations Coordination Corporation (FACC) in the State under Companies Act. The Central government accorded green signal for its registration.
The State government had sent a proposal to the Union government for the registration of FACC under the Companies Act and directed the Agriculture Department to pay Rs 1.52 crore as registration fee to Markfed for completion of remaining registration process.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Agriculture Principal Secretary C Parthasarathi said based on the department’s letter for considering the State government’s request the Central government on Thursday evening granted permission.
It may be recalled that Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had decided to have a special corporation in the name of Telangana Farmers Coordination Corporation at the State level to deal with farmers’ issues, including crop patterns, providing fertilizers, seeds and minimum support price for the produce.
Ten day ago, the Chief Minister directed State Agriculture Department officials to complete the process in this regard. On February 23, the department requested the Union government to grant the permission for the corporation.
Once the State government pays the registration fee it has to register the by-laws. Officials said that it would take seven to 10 days to complete the process and later a government order would be issued appointing FACC State chairman Gutha Sukhender Reddy.
