Apparel Super Hub to be set up in Siricilla by Kay Ventures

Hyderabad: Kay Ventures joined hands with the Telangana government for setting up an Apparel Super Hub (ASH) at Sircilla Textile Park. A Memorandum of Understanding was signed to this effect by Handlooms and Textiles Commissioner Shailaja Ramaiyyar with the company representatives in the presence of Handlooms and Textiles Minister K T Rama Rao at the State Secretariat here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said the establishment of ASH will play a crucial role in transforming lives of weavers in Sircilla and its surroundings. Kay Ventures will be setting up the hub with an investment of Rs 100 crore and take up operations in three phases. The unit will provide direct employment to over 15,000 weavers and indirect employment to another 15,000 members where 90 per cent of employees would be women.

“The textile park will be spread over 60 acres, while the ASH will be established in an area of 20 acres. The textile park and super hub are aimed to provide a platform for integration of small and medium scale industries in the town for economic development of weavers,” he said.

Rama Rao said the State government had initiated numerous programmes for welfare of weavers and was working with an objective for their economic and social empowerment. One of the largest textile parks in the country, is being established in Warangal where about 22 national and international companies have signed agreements to set up their units.

“Korean company Youngone Corporation has come forward to establish eight factories and this will facilitate in providing employment to nearly 10,000 workers. The State government is committeed to welfare of weavers and all plans are in place for their upliftment at Narayanpet, Siddipet, Gadwal, Jammikunta, Dubbak, and Pochampalli,” the Minister added. He said that the government has appointed NIFT director Rajaram as CEO of Gundlapochampalli Apparel Park.
