When New Delhi can be free of hoardings why can't Hyderabad: KTR

The Telangana's  Municipal Administration Minister, K.T. Rama Rao, called for a hoarding-free Hyderabad.The hoardings are eyesore for veheicle drivers and they are very danger during the change in the climate like rainy season he said,to a group of journalists in the Assembly.


He said the revenue generated to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is not in commensurate with the dangers involved and public nuisance caused by them. “When New Delhi can be free of hoardings why can’t Hyderabad,” he said, adding that “My dream is to see a hoarding-free city, which has great potential to be an international city.”


The Minister said a special enforcement wing in GHMC is looking into removing the hoardings. First they are identifying hoardings that don’t have permission, are structurally weak and cannot take on the weather changes. All the hoardings will be removed in a phased manner. The High Court has also given a directive to remove illegal hoardings.


Earlier, a delegation of senior journalists met Mr. KTR to complain against the removal of the unipole on the premises of the Press Club Hyderabad in the midnight by the GHMC officials who did not heed to their request for postponing the demolition. The journalists informed the Minister that the GHMC Commissioner B. Janardhan Reddy had given them time for the removal but his team did not listen to the Press Club’s requests.


The Minister requested the journalists not to treat it as a confrontation between the government and the journalists.The delegation consisted of D. Amar, secretary general, India Journalists’ Union (IJU), former Press Club presidents Sailesh Reddy, Ravikanth Reddy and the present president Rajamouli Chary and secretary Vijaya Kumar Reddy.
