Telugu language in the state is going down regularly, the kids don't know telugu now a days.Regarding this in the State Legislative Assembly unanimously passed the Telangana (Compulsory Teaching and Learning of Telugu in Schools) Bill 2018 on Saturaday.

Telugu is now officially the first language for students of all media up to Class X.

Explaining about provisions of the Bill to the House, Deputy Chief Minister (Education) Kadiam Srihari said the State government had decided to implement Telugu language as compulsory for students of all media up to Class X. The language would be introduced in first and sixth classes of primary and high schools, respectively, commencing from the academic year of 2018-19. It will be introduced in other classes in a phased manner over next five years up to Class X for students of all schools, including government, aided, residential and private notwithstanding their medium of instruction or State and Central Boards of Education.

"Considering the difficulty in understanding the language for students of other media and mother tongues, the syllabus will be different for students of Telugu medium and other media including English, Urdu and other medium of instruction,” the Deputy Chief Minister said. For instance, syllabus for Class VI students of English medium or other media would be similar to Class I syllabus of Telugu medium.

Meanwhile, the Assembly passed four other Bills, including the Telangana Police [Selection and Appointment of DGP (Head of Police)] Bill, the Telangana Assigned Lands (Prohibition of Transfers) (Amendment) Bill, Telangana Medical Practitioners Registration (Amendment) Bill, Telangana Advocates’ Clerks’ Welfare Fund (Amendment) Bill and Telangana Advocates’ Welfare Fund (Amendment) Bill. All the Bills were passed without any opposition.

While the Telangana Police Bill will enable the State government to appoint the DGP directly without intervention of the Central government, the Medical Practioners Registration Bill has waived the mandatory one-year rural service for PG doctors.
