Jaiprakash Narayan Rao Said the Road Beside St John�s Church was Closed Without any Reason

 Locals from East Marredpally are highlighting in social media the traffic woes in their area. The road opposite ISKCON main entrance and next to St. John’s Church has been closed to vehicles, which they alleged, was proving to be a hurdle for residents of Teachers Colony. The area comprised different lanes with independent houses and apartments.

Retired public servant and member of group Marredpally Days Jaiprakash Narayan Rao said the road beside St John’s Church was closed without any reason being given. Also restriction on movement of vehicles (due to one-way rule) in the lane next to the ATM towards Ratnadeep Supermarket could have been avoided.

He urged locals to get motivated from the recent successful fight put up by sportspersons and children against extension of bus bay into the West Marredpally ground.

Purushotam Malani, who stays near the ATM on East Marredpally main road felt that if the one-way rule had to be implemented, traffic coming from AOC and East Marredpally should be allowed to enter the lane instead of the present situation where traffic from Secunderabad and Rail Nilayam is allowed to pass through the lane and cross over to the East Marredpally-AOC main road. This resulted in traffic bottlenecks. 

Architect Jai Kumar from Teachers Colony said reaching the main road was proving to be tough owing to closure of the road opposite ISKCON temple. It had been convenient for commuters proceeding towards Paradise-Begumpet stretch and Secunderabad station while going out or while returning home taking the immediate left after crossing the Eashwari Bai statue circle, he said. 

West Marredpally traffic inspector K. Chandrashekar Reddy said the restrictions were implemented after exploring all possibilities. Also, the traffic numbers had increased over the last three to four years.

“The road next to St John’s Church had been closed and barricaded four years ago and it is yielding results. If the road is opened vehicular traffic on Secunderabad-East Marredpally-AOC would be severely affected, he added.
