Lok Sabha security staff got protesting Telugu Desam members of Parliament to vacate the House by resorting to a ruse on the last day of Parliament.

After the House was adjourned sine die on Friday, around 13 TD MPs remained in the House staging protests at the Speaker’s podium and before the Prime Minister’s seat. They refused the request of the Lok Sabha security personnel to vacate the House and said that they would continue their protest in the House.A security officer then told them that the Speaker has asked them to come for discussions in her chamber. As soon as the MPs came out to meet the Speaker, the security staff locked the doors of the Lok Sabha. The Speaker had also left. The TD MPs then protested in the Speaker’s chamber.

The marshals requested them to vacate the Speaker’s chamber, but former minister Y. Sujana Chowdary said they would not leave till they met the Speaker. The confrontation ended in the evening when, acting on the directions of the Speaker, the marshals forcibly removed the TD MPs from her chamber. The protests continued at the gate of Parliament.

Meanwhile, Telugu Desam MP M. Murali Mohan was shifted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital after he fell ill.

The Telugu Desam is demanding the grant of special status to Andhra Pradesh and implementation of assurances given to the state in the AP Reorganisation Act.
