A Mother and Child Care Centre will also be Set up at the Hospital

 The Telangana government is committed to ensure a quality health system for its people, especially for those in rural areas. It also plans to conduct a free health checkup in villages every year, Health Minister C Laxma Reddy said on Tuesday.

Inaugurating a five-bed dialysis centre at the Government Area Hospital in Mahabubabad town, the Minister said the facility will benefit 101 kidney patients of the area. Earlier, patients had to go to Warangal, Khammam and even Hyderabad for dialysis.“While a total of 40 dialysis centres were set up in the State, six were established in erstwhile Warangal and Khammam districts alone,” Reddy said, adding that the Mahabubabad Area Hospital would soon be upgraded to a 300-bed facility from the existing 100.

“A mother and child care centre will also be set up at the hospital. Efforts will be taken to address the problems faced by the hospital by providing all required facilities. The hospital will be equipped with modern medical facilities on par with corporate hospitals,” the Minister assured. He also said eye tests would be conducted for all soon.

Reddy also inaugurated a water plant on the premises of the hospital. Later, he along with MP Seetaram Naik, MLA B Shankar Naik and others visited the under-construction government hospital at Gudur and directed officials concerned to complete the works in two months.

At Narsampet town in Warangal Rural district, the Minister inaugurated a dialysis centre at the Government Area Hospital. “The number of patients coming to government hospitals increased due to the measures being taken by the State government. The government is providing facilities and services on par with corporate hospitals,” he said.

Reddy has also hit out at previous governments for not improving the facilities at hospitals. Telangans State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman Peddi Sudharshan Reddy was present.
