Govt has taken steps to develop Satavahanas' first capital Kotilingala as a tourist spot and also arranged boat shire in river Godavari to attract visitors. Jagityal district's Kotilingala is known for its historical as well as spiritual importance.
People enjoy visiting Kotilingeswara Swami temple which appears to be an island surrounded by river Godavari. Devotees spoke to media and expressed their happiness on visiting Kotilingala. The boat organisers said that the boat shire is now covering a very short distance and tourism and fisheries departments should work in coordination to increase the coverage area upto Yellampalli project and to establish hotels and parks.
