 Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has said that Telangana government has been working to realise the dreams of Dr BR Ambedkar be designing various schemes to improve lives of the poor people.


Addressing the gathering after garlanding the statue of Dr Ambedkar on the occasion of his birth anniversary in Siddipet town here on Saturday, the Minister has said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has been following the footsteps Dr BR Ambedkar by designing such schemes.He further said that the Ambedkar’s observations on formation of small States had also helped the formation of Telangana State.Talking about the Supreme Court’s orders on SC & ST Atrocities Act, the Minister demanded Prime Minister Narendra Modi to speak to Supreme Court on the need of continuing the SC & ST Atrocities Act.


Even today 45,000 to 50,000 cases are being reported every year of SCs and STs, said Rao. He said that the Chief Minister has requested the Prime Minister to allay the fears of SCs and STs. He further stated that the Act was in force even before the India had got freedom from British.Collector P Venkatrami Reddy and others were present.In Sangareddy, MLA Chintha Prabhakar, Collector Vasam Venkateshwarlu and others attended the celebrations.In Medak district, the celebrations were organised on grand way. Collector K Dharma Reddy, Joint Collector Nagesh, Municipal Chairman Mallikarjun Goud and others attended the celebrations.
