In a move to make admission process hassle free and more transparent, both the counselling process of Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) and Degree Online Services, Telangana (DOST) will be clubbed.

By linking the websites, Telangana State Council of Higher Education intends streamline the admission process and to know the vacancy seat position in the real time. For a point in case, a student who gets an admission in a degree college later joins an engineering college, such vacancy in the degree college will be known in the real time.

“Earlier, any vacancy degree colleges used to go till end counselling. A student gets a seat in a degree college through DOST and later joins an engineering college, such seat in the degree college will immediately go vacant and will be available for the next eligible candidate and vice-versa,” R Limbadri, Convener, DOST and Chairman-I, TSCHE said. This apart, the students will be given an option for sliding into another college by paying a refundable amount of Rs 1,000 for general category and Rs 500 in case of SC/ST/OBCs. Candidates who are not satisfied with their college or course can chose for the sliding option and they can only pay the college fee once they join it. However, students joining the government colleges and wants to go in for sliding option need not pay any fee.

In order to attract more number of students, the TSCHE has decided to promote DOST in a big way. Along with intermediate public examinations result, students will be provided with detail information regarding the DOST.“Along with the result, entire instructions regarding DOST will be handed over to students who clear the intermediate public examinations, besides SMSs will be also sent to all eligible candidates across the State,” a senior official said.
