Cyberabad Police Arrested organising cricket betting persons

The Cyberabad Police Special Operations Team has nabbed three gangs allegedly involved in organising cricket betting. In all, the force has seized cash worth Rs 18.18 lakh, 49 mobile phones, three laptops, a communicator and other articles.

In the first case, the accused were identified as Ankit Agarwal, 28 (Organiser), and Mohit Agarwal, 25 (organiser), of Charminar, who, along with four other aides, have been allegedly involved in cricket betting since 2016. “Most of the transactions pertaining to betting have been made online, but regular bettors used to make their payments through cash. The betting games were conducted according to information based on trends in the game related to the performance of players and what is likely to happen, collected by the accused from a person in Rajasthan,” said VC Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad. The team seized cash amounting to Rs 10,02,500, 12 cell phones and a laptop from the first gang.

In the second case, the accused were identified as Praveen Agarwal, 28, of Bahadurpura (organiser), Jitendat Patwari, 48, of Mangalhat (Organiser), Rohit Agarwal, 27, of Char Khaman and Lal Chand Agarwal, 58, of Rajendra Nagar. “The accused in this team were involved in online betting. They recently started their business in March 2018 and intensified in April, due to the ongoing IPL tournament,” said Mr Sajjanar.

The team has seized Rs 1,26,000 in cash, 11 cell phones and a laptop from the second gang.
The accused in the third case were identified as Nagam Ravi Kumar, 49, of Nalgonda, D Shiva Rama Krishna, 32, of Guntur and D Narasimha Rao, 35, of Guntur. “This gang has been in the business since 2014. During the IPL and other important matches, Nagam Ravi Kumar, the kingpin of this gang, would shift his base to Guntur or Hyderabad,” the commissioner said.
