A new system has proposed by the Telangana State Electricity Regulatory Commission (TSERC).In this system giving single point power supply connections to apartments, multi-storeyed, domestic, commercial, industrial complexes and residential complexes. Under this system, any apartment or multi-storeyed building will have only one meter.  But flat owners can have sub meters from this main one.

Under this system, power charges will be collected at a fixed rate per unit without any slabs. The officials said that this will help those consumers who use more power.  The Electricity Regulatory Commission said that a number of group housing societies and residential-cum-commercial complexes are being developed in various parts of Telangana. These complexes are developing their own distribution infrastructure within their premises. The ERC said that these complexes had been requesting for single point power connection.

The ERC has also proposed to amend Regulation Act 2013. The ERC has issued draft amendments and have requested stakeholders and other interested persons to offer their comments, objections and suggestions on this change by May 22, 2018.
