The State government has sanctioned an additional intake of 500 seats to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar campus for the academic year 2018-19. Orders to this effect were issued on Saturday.
Initially, the RGUKT had an intake of 2,000 seats and it was reduced to 1,000 due to lack of infrastructure and students accommodation at the campus.Over the last seven years, the intake was kept at the same level despite vast development of the campus. The university has developed modern laboratory and facilities and well equipped classrooms for teaching and sufficient accommodation to meet the additional intake.
“After careful examination of the matter, the government hereby issue orders for the sanction of additional intake of 500 seats to RGUKT, Basar campus in addition to the existing 1,000 seats for the academic year 2018-19, subject to the meeting the expenditure from the budget estimates 2018-19 in the first instance,” the order read.
The State government has asked the RGUKT vice-chancellor to take further necessary action.
