The Narayanguda police has arrested a man for allegedly cheating a person under the pretext of helping him get a job in the railways.

“In 2015, Mahender Kumar Agarwal of Basheerbagh offered to help Usthili Nageshwar Reddy of Rajendranagar get a job in the railways through a relative who was purportedly a Railway Board member, and demanded Rs 10 lakh for it,” police said.

He settled for Rs 8 lakh and Mr Reddy paid the amount the same year. When Agarwal failed to provide an appointment letter, Mr Reddy asked for a refund and was paid Rs 1 lakh in August 2016. After he failed to return the rest of the amount, Mr Reddy filed a case and the accused was arrested.
