Heavy rain and strong winds followed by showers hit the city on Thursday, metro train services ran slower than usual for about 50 minutes on Thursday. L&T Metro issued a statement on its social media page saying, “Due to high wind speed up to 72 km ph and poor visibility, there was a minor disruption in Metro services from 4.30 pm to 5.20 pm to ensure safety of commuters.”One of the trains apparently ran slower, causing delay in the timing of the other trains. While L&T regretted the inconvenience caused, normal services resumed quickly after 5.20pm. An official from L&T pointed out that they wanted to maintain transparency about the services as some regular commuters may feel the change in speeds.

However, more commuters were seen opting for Metro during the rains as it was noticed that the rush during the aforesaid hours was slightly more than usual. Furthermore, water had started stagnating at escalators of Ameerpet Metro station, so commuters were watchful while stepping on the Metro. Soon the workers were seen removing the water after the showers stopped.
