The false propaganda unleashed by Opposition parties in an attempt to woo the public is falling flat, with the people continuing to back Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao said here on Tuesday.

Addressing public meetings during a whirlwind tour of Serilingampally constituency, Rao said Telangana will turn four on June 2. None of the sweeping statements made by Congress leaders in the past against the TRS party or the government it led in the State had found support from the public, who were impressed with the Chief Minister’s vision and supported him wholeheartedly. The TRS government had introduced various welfare and developmental programmes, setting an example to other States in the country, the Minister pointed out, recalling that four years ago, things were in total disarray. People faced lots of hardships during summer, especially due to insufficient drinking water and erratic power supply.

Industries used to declare two ‘power holidays’ in a week. The farming sector was in total distress and households had to stage dharnas for drinking water. All these problems were addressed in just four years, he said, amid cheers and whistles from the gathering at Allwyn Colony in Yellamabanda. The Congress and other parties had ruled the State for nearly 60 years, but it was the TRS that was introducing effective welfare programmes, besides addressing long-pending issues in a short span of time. The Rythu Bandhu scheme, which is the first of its kind in the country, was benefiting farmers, many of whom were already sporting smiles. An assured sum of Rs.4,000 was being distributed per acre to every farmer in the State and that too, without any irregularity, he said, adding that Chief Minister KCR was perhaps the only leader to announce in the Assembly that he would not seek votes if he failed to provide tap connections to every household in the State.

“This speaks volume about our leader’s commitment for welfare of the people,” the Minister said.

Taking a dig at the Telangana Congress chief, Rao said “By merely sporting a beard, one cannot become a Gabbar Singh and taking oaths will not help in winning the hearts of people. One needs to work for their welfare.”The Minister, who laid the foundation for a few developmental works, also inaugurated reservoirs at Hafizpet and Ayyappa Society among other areas. He also launched the first of its kind multi-utility AC bus shelter at Shilparamam, of which 826 will be constructed by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation across the city. He also opened the Loo & Café, a new concept of luxury washrooms from the GHMC, in the same locality.
