Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Facebook page tops the popularity chart among the Lok Sabha members in 2017, said Facebook team.

Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi’s Facebook page is the second popular among the Lok Sabha MP and Aam Aadmi Party MP from Punjab Bhagwant Mann’s page comes the third in the ranking.“We (Facebook) released data of the top-ranked FB pages of government bodies, ministries and political parties in India. The data looks at the popularity of these accounts in the period from January 1st, 2017 to December 31st, 2017 and is based on interaction on the platform which includes total reactions, shares and comments. You (Asad-uddin Owaisi) will be glad to know that your Facebook page reflects in the top 3 ranked pages among the Lok Sabha members,” the Facebook team wrote to the Hyderabad MP and MIM chief in an official statement.

Speaking to this newspaper, Mr Owaisi credited the feat to his media team.“It is around five years I have been on the social media and it is an effective communication platform to showcase welfare works, at least for a politician. The credit goes to my media team who were instrumental in creating interactive platforms like (FB) Live, uploading my speeches in Parliament and public rallies. But I am of the opinion that this social interaction does not serve a large purpose. Groundwork and personal interaction with party followers are key factors,” he said.

In April, the Facebook page of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath was adjud-ged as the most popular among all chief ministers. In the ranking released by the social networking platform, Rajasthan CM  Vasundhara Raje stood 2nd while  Gujarat counterpart Vijay Rupani emerged to be the third most popular among chief ministers in the country.
