A man picked up for alleged theft died in the custody of the Sanathnagar police reportedly due to ill-health on Wednesday evening.
ACP, Balanagar, T. Govardhan, said Premchand, 35, was detained on a tip-off on Wednesday, for a burglary reported on Tuesday. He said that Premchand was a habitual offender.
The police found after questioning that he had handed over gold ornaments to a person in Yadadri. The police took him to Yadadri to recover the ornaments when he complained of uneasiness. He died while he was being taken to the hospital.A statement issued by the Cyberabad police said Premchand was ill, and died of a stroke at Bhongir.
