Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao claimed that the State has made giant strides in development in all the sectors with some pathbreaking decisons and innovative schemes.

Mr. Rao, who spoke at the fourth Formation Day celebrations on Saturday, said the four years proved how a separate State could achieve incredible results that were not seen in the combined Andhra Pradesh where Telangana was neglected wilfully by the rulers. He was given Guard of Honour by different battalions of the state police after he unfurled the national flag. The Chief Minister said Telangana can now take pride in itself as a State with highest growth rate in the country despite being the youngest. That all the States want to replicate the initiatives itself speaks volumes of the success the Government has achieved, he said

Remembering the people who sacrificed their lives for the separate State cause, Mr. Rao said he had designed the party manifesto keeping in view those aspirations and they are already showing results. He said the government was following the principle of creating wealth and ensuring that it was distributed equally to all the sections to ensure that they lead better lives.Highlighting all the schemes introduced by the Government in the last four years, Mr. Rao said he touched several sections that were left out of welfare and development through innovative initiatives such as the Kalyana Lakshmi, sheep distribution, KCR kits and enhancement of pensions for poor apart from double-bedroom houses.

The Kaleshwaram project will stand as an example of how prosperous Telangana will be in future, he said and warned that there was an effort by some sections to undermine the Government’s work. People should be wary of such forces, he said. He also sought support of people in realising the dream of Bangaru Telangana.

The Telangana Congress also celebrated the Formation Day unfurling the flag at the Gandhi Bhavan. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president, N. Uttam Kumar Reddy unfurled the flag and reminded that Telangana had become a reality due to the efforts of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi and the people were indebted to her for fulfilling the long-pending dream.

Later, he released a pamphlet ‘Betrayed Telangana’ where he accused the Chief Minister of running a family rule and ignoring the interests of farmers, students and all sections that had great expectations from the first Telangana Government. The BJP also celebrated with the state president, Dr. K. Lakshman unfurling the flag at the party office.
