Principal Secretary (Municipal Administration) Arvind Kumar asked government departments, including the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB), to hand over land allotted to them around the Osman Sagar lake to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) for lake front development. He directed the Revenue department to identify government land and hand it over to HMDA. Mr. Arvind Kumar, presiding over the first task force meeting of the Gandipet Lake Front Development on Thursday, asked officials to focus on sustaining the eco-system around the lake and to improve the lake’s water quality.

He asked Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority officials to prepare a detailed project report for the first phase of lake front development.He wanted it to include laying of a sewer network as well as a plan for setting up sewerage treatment plants.HMDA Commissioner T. Chiranjeevulu proposed a self-sustainable lake front development model with planned integration of acceptable eco-system, which includes eco-sensitive zones and eco-friendly activities.

The lake front would become an iconic green recreational zone in a self-funding and self-sustainable manner, he said.HMWSSB Managing Director Dana Kishore, Ranga Reddy District Collector Raghunandan Rao, Municipal Additional Commissioner Bharati Holikeri and other officials attended the meeting.
