After five rounds of talks initiated by government to avert the strike in RTC from Monday, nothing concrete emerged at the end of the day on Saturday.

Initially, the Ministers entrusted to look into the demands of Telangana Mazdoor Union which gave the strike call met among themselves at their residential complex in the morning and later discussed with TMU representatives. The Ministers then proceeded to the Chief Minister’s camp office to bring to his notice deliberations with TMU leader. In the afternoon again, the Ministers met among themselves for the second time before proceeding to the Chief Minister’s camp office where the TMU leaders were also summoned.

Sources said the TMU leaders insisted on a fitment of 50 per cent, 6 per cent more than what they got in the Pay Revision Commission recommendations implemented in 2015, or in the alternative an interim relief of 25 per cent, pending new PRC report. The union leaders also demanded recruitment of drivers and conductors, one time settlement to bail out RTC from losses, waiver of motor vehicles tax and tax on diesel but these were not pressed at the meetings.

The Ministers who took part in negotiations included T. Harish Rao who is the honorary president of TMU, Mr. Eatala Rajender, Mr. K.T. Rama Rao, Mr. Tummala Nageswara Rao and Mr. P. Mahender Reddy.
