Telangana and AP are both keen to have the steel plants

The Central government has made it clear that setting up integrated steel factories in Telangana and AP as assured in the AP Reorganisation Act is not possible.

But the officials of both states were surprised with the announcement of steel ministry officials that they have arranged this meeting to discuss latest position on steel plants.Telangana and AP are both keen to have the steel plants and Chief Ministers of both states have personally brought this issue to the notice of the Prime Minister. 

Telangana industries and IT minister K T Rama Rao recently criticised the Centre for its failure to set up the integrated steel factory in Bayyaram and said that the state government will ensure the steel plant is set up under the aegis of Singareni Collieries and Telangana State Mineral Development Corporation.  

Telugu Desam MP C M Ramesh warned the Centre that if the steel factory is not set up in Kadapa he will go on indefinite hunger strike.
