For the first time in the country, the Ex-servicemen Contributory Health Scheme has launched a medicine inventory management system (Mims) at the Telangana Andhra Sub Area.

Major General N. Srinivas Rao said, “The Mims will bring in changes in the way medicine are procured. It will help in automation of the process of indenting, procurement and distribution of medicines. The system also incorporates online financial concurrence.”

Colonel Anil Kumar N.R., director of ECHS, said the Mims will help ECHS Polyclinics to create, modify and facilitate the online approval of demand for medicines.  It provides predictive analysis using machine learning, thereby ensuring optimal procurement of medicines. It also facilitates real-time monitoring of stock levels and online financial concurrence from Controller of Defence Accounts, he said.

Integrated Mims is the second phase of a series of IT initiatives undertaken by Telangana ECHS.  In the first phase, ECHS doctor appointment booking application was launched on Army Day, 15 January, this year. It is being extensively used by ECHS beneficiaries of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
