The AICC has divided work for the three national secretaries who have been posted as incharges of the state party unit, handing them about 40 Assembly seats each.

The Assembly segments, grouped into Lok Sabha constituencies, were carved out between the three secretaries — Mr N.S. Bose Raju, Mr Srinivasan Krishnan and Mr Saleem Ahamed.

Mr Bose Raju was allotted Hyderabad, Secunderabad, Chevella, Mahbubnagar and Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituencies. Mr Krishnan was allotted Adilabad, Peddapalli, Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Zaheerabad and Warangal. Mr Ah-med got Nalgonda, Bhongir, Khammam, Mahabubabad, Malkajgiri and Medak Lok Sabha constituencies.

AICC general secretary R.C. Khuntia, incharge of TS affairs, held a meeting with the secretaries, TPCC president N. Uttam Kumar Reddy, district Congress committee presidents and senior leaders at Gandhi Bhavan on Monday.

Briefing mediapersons later, Mr Khuntia said the high command had given the secretaries targets to strengthen the party. He said the party should be strengthened at the village, mandal and constituency levels in a month. Differences among party leaders should be resolved.

He said the AICC secretaries would appoint an incharge to each constituency and get reports from them. Mr Khuntia reiterated that there was no change in the TPCC leadership and the Congress would go to the elections with Mr Uttam Kumar Reddy at the helm.

The TPCC president said the secretaries were allotted responsibilities of 40 Assembly seats each.

Legislator D.K. Aruna suggested that the AICC secretaries should first concentrate on resolving differences in the Assembly constituencies. Former MP V. Hanumantha Rao said the issues of handcuffing of farmers at the Khammam market yard, suicide of farmers and atrocities in the TRS government should be highlighted at the national level.
