The last rites of Sharath Koppu performed

The last rites of Sharath Koppu, who was shot inside a restaurant in Kansas city in the US last Friday, were conducted by his family at Kareembad in Warangal on Thursday.The state NRI department helped the family bring Sarath’s body back to their native place. The body arrived at the Shamshabad airport in Hyderabad at about 10.30 pm on Wednesday and was taken to Warangal at 7.30 am on Thursday.


His father, Mr Ram Mohan Koppu, was present at the airport to collect the mortal remains of his son. According to sources, Mr Ram Mohan collapsed on seeing the body.Also present at the airport were BJP MP Bandaru Dattatreya and Cyberabad Commissioner V.C. Sajjanar who paid their respects to the late techie.


Mr Ram Mohan, his wife Malathi and their daughter Akshara left for Warangal early on Thursday. 


Friends, family members and relatives gathered at the Koppu family’s ancestral home in Kareembad to console the family. Sharath had gone to the US for higher studies just six months ago.


Several local leaders and district officials visited the family and consoled them. Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari said the government would provide all possible help to the bereaved family.


“Sharath’s mother Malathi is still in a state of shock and her medical condition is deteriorating. She has not been taking food for the past five days. We have provided medical assistance to her,” Mr Srihari said. “She is a government employee in Parvathagiri of Warangal Rural district. We will take steps to provide her a job with the GHMC so that she can stay with her family members who are working in Hyderabad,” he said.


Local MLA Konda Surekha, Warangal Rural collector M. Haritha, Warangal Urban collector Amrapali Kata, BJP and Congress district presidents Rao Padma and N. Rajender Reddy and several others paid floral tributes to Sharath’s body.
