KCR directed officials concerned to enroll the names of all farmers

Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday directed officials concerned to enroll the names of all farmers in the State under Rythu Bandhu Bhima (insurance) scheme and obtain nominee applications from them without fail. To ensure that all farmers are covered under the scheme, he asked the officials to examine all land records manually and rectify the errors immediately.

Reviewing the progress of land records purification and enrollment of farmers for the Rythu Bandhu Bhima scheme at Pragati Bhavan here, the Chief Minister emphasised the need to enrol the names of all farmers in the State without any scope for errors.“Notwithstanding the extent of land or different locations of land, each farmer will be eligible for only one insurance policy. Hence, we need to ensure that there are no errors in submitting the names of farmers. We also need to create awareness among farmers about the scheme and ensure that they submit the nominee applications without fail,” he said.

The officials have been asked to submit the details collected so far from the farmers as the State government was ready to pay the insurance premium amount to Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC).Rao expressed dissatisfaction over the slow pace of work with regard to land records purification and rectification of errors. He observed that new passbooks and Rythu Bandhu cheques were issued to farmers after purification of land records. “But many farmers are yet to receive their passbooks and cheques. Errors were found in some passbooks which need to be rectified immediately. Despite stringent orders, these works are not moving at the desired pace. Officials need to ramp up their speed and complete the work within the specified time frame,” he warned.

Chief Secretary SK Joshi, Principal Secretaries S Narsing Rao, Ramakrishna Rao, Shantha Kumari, CMO officials Smitha Sabharwal, Bhupal Reddy, Priyanka Varghese, Agriculture Commissioner Jagan Mohan, MP Vinod Kumar, Government Whip Palla Rajeshwar Reddy and others were present.

Over 2 lakh to benefit from milch animal scheme,Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao on Friday instructed officials concerned to initiate the process for implementation of milch animal distribution programme in the State through dairy cooperatives for their members.

The Chief Minister said 2.13 lakh members of dairy cooperatives stand to benefit from the scheme. “Each unit will cost Rs 80,000 in addition to Rs 5,000 that will be spent towards transport charges. Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes beneficiaries will get the milch animals at 75 per cent subsidy while for others, the subsidy would be 50 per cent,” he said, adding that members of dairy cooperatives would be permitted to buy the milch animals from anywhere in India.
