Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has always been in the forefront when it comes to implementation of welfare programmes and flagship projects like Kaleshwaram project.

He has been taking special interest and seeing that Haritha Haram, the yearly mass plantation drive, helps in developing a deeper sense of responsibility among citizens of Siddipet.The Minister had called upon his followers to plant a sapling on birthday of their family members and post a picture of the sapling on SFN (Siddipet Flash News) WhatsApp group.

Since the group has Municipal Councillors, sarpanches, MPTCs, ZPTCs, student leaders, officials and others, at least one person posts a picture of plantation marking birthday celebrations, every day. The Minister sends wishes to them without fail irrespective of whether he is in Hyderabad or New Delhi.Over the past few years, it has developed into a chain system in Siddipet Assembly Constituency. Since Municipal Councillors, ZPTCs, MPTCs, sarpanches, and others have also been maintaining their own groups, they too have asked their followers to plant a sapling and post a picture in WhatsApp groups and get blessings of their beloved leaders.

In Siddipet Assembly Constituency, planting a sapling has become a habit just like cutting a cake on birthday. Speaking to ‘Telangana Today,’ Municipal Councillor, Matcha Venugopal Reddy said his children always discuss what kind of species they would like to plant on their next birthday.Since planting a sapling has become a part of birthday celebrations in Siddipet Constituency, the backyard of every citizen has got half a dozen to dozen new saplings.

Former Sarpanch of Gatyamalyala in Nanganur mandal, Somi Reddy said the effort of Minister had brought in a change and people had started realising the importance of maintaining green cover.Not only on birthdays, people are also planting saplings on any special day. In fact, a team of youth planted a sapling in Siddipet stadium marking the victory of athlete Hima Das and posted them same on SFN group. The post stands testimony to the facst that the Minister’s call has impacted young minds in a positive way in Siddipet town.
