Telangana's CM K. Chandrasekhar Rao will launch Kanti Velugu programme on August 15, aimed at screening the eye health of entire 3,050 crore population in the state. After the check-up at specially organised camps across the state, people suffering from refractive errors will be given free eye glasses.
The government will also conduct surgeries in all cases of cataract, glaucoma, retinopathy and corneal disorders for free. Mr Rao on Saturday directed officials to launch the scheme in all districts on August 15 at 2 pm.
He said he would launch the scheme in one of the villages in his home constituency Gajwel on August 15 and also request governor ESL Narasimhan to launch the scheme one place of his choice. The CM said the programme will be launched at the same day and time all over the state the and all elected representatives will be requested to participate in the programme.
