A couple has been arrested by the cyber cell of the Cyberabad police on Saturday for cheating a job aspirant under the pretext of hiring him for a job in Singapore.

The accused identified as Padigala Sruthi and her husband Pandiri Naveen, residents of Manikonda, contacted Pagadala Ramya Rashmi, through Facebook. Later, they assured to find a job for her in Singapore and collected about Rs 7.65 lakh.

“The couple told that their relative owns a restaurant in Singapore and would find a job for her there. Under this pretext, they collected money for various procedures and asked her to deposit it in four different bank accounts,” said inspector K. Srinivas.

The woman was promised Singapore Dollar (SGD) 2,500 a month. Thereafter, Sruthi sent fake visa documents to Ramya, who checked online to verify the authenticity of the same. She found it to be fake, following which she lodged a complaint.

The couple had duped Ramya to overcome their financial crisis.
