Case booked on teacher for slapping 8-yr-old student

The parent of an eight-year-old girl student of Oxford  Grammar School at Himayatnagar has filed a police complaint stating that her science teacher slapped her for not plaiting her hair. The girl had attended school with a pony tail. Following the complaint, the school management suspended teacher Sita Lakshmi on Saturday.


The incident took place on July 19 and came to light with the suspension of the teacher. The police complaint in the matter was filed by the girl’s mother, Ms B. Nandini, the same day at the Narayanguda police station. However, no case was booked. 


A letter issued by the Oxford Grammar school on Saturday said: “A complaint was filed by the parent of B. Vinoothna studying in Class 4, A section, alleging that science teacher Sita Lakshmi had slapped the child for not wearing a uniform hairstyle and not doing home work. We regret this incident. Upon insistence of the parents the management has suspended the teacher.”
