Hyderabad: The TRS on Wednesday termed TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy an ‘Andhra covert (agent)’ alleging that he was working for the development of AP at the cost of Telangana state.
TRS MLC Karne Prabhakar told the media that the TS Congress was functioning with the sole agenda to benefit AP and hurt TS interests.
“The Congress supporting special status for AP in the Lok Sabha and the CWC passing a resolution proves the Congress is an Andhra party like the TD,” he said.
“We have no objection if AP is extended the benefits promised in the AP Reorganisation Act, 2014. But if AP is given more than that, and if that hurts TS interests, we will oppose this tooth and nail,” Mr Prabhakar said.
He expressed concern that industries from Telangana state would shift to AP if that state was given special status which included tax concessions.
“The Congress has been anti-Telangana since Nehru’s time. He merged Hyderabad State into Andhra against the wishes of the Telangana people,” he said. Mrs Indira Gandhi had obstructed formation of Telangana state in the 1970s and Mrs Sonia Gandhi had delayed statehood till her hand was forced by the agitation, Mr Prabhakar said.
Uttam questions secrecy over rafale
TPCC chief N. Uttam Kumar Reddy on Wednesday said it was surprising to know why Prime Minister Narendra Modi and defence minister Nirmala Seetharaman were claiming the price of the Rafale fighter aircraft was a secret.
Mr Reddy said was a former IAF Captain and had flown the MiG-21 and MiG-23 jets and had served on the China and Pakistan borders.
It was his experience that operational details like weapons carried on aircraft, radar range and weapons’ range could be a secret but not the price of the entire deal.
