Govt to plans to built 14 check dams across Manjeera, Haldi Vagu

Some 14 check dams will come up soon across the Manjeera river and Haldi Vagu in Medak and Sangareddy districts.The State government on Friday issued orders according administrative approval for construction of these check dams at a cost of Rs 81.94 crore. They are proposed at Nawabpet, Chandoor, Konapur, Panyala, Ajjamari, Yendandla, Fasalwadi, Vendikole and Paitra on Manjeera, and Nagulapally, Kayagattu, Damarancha, Uppulingapur and Yeldurthy on Haldi Vagu. 


These will help extend irrigation facility to some 25,000 acres. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had assured people to sanction check dams in 18 locations, and Minister for Irrigation T Harish Rao, while addressing a public meeting at Narsapur on Thursday, promised the farmers that the government would give an administrative approval for the check dams immediately. Accordingly, the GO was issued within 24 hours, fulfilling the promise made by the Chief Minister.
