CM to launch eye screening programme, Kanti Velugu simultaneously

Eye screening programme, Kanti Velugu, will be launched simultaneously all over the State at 799 places on August 15.Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao will launch the programme in Gajwel constituency and he instructed the officials that a public representative should necessarily participate in the launch of the programme in every place. The Chief Minister said here on Tuesday that required staff, material and eye testing equipment, medicines and spectacles should reach the designated centre well in advance.


He also gave firm instructions to the Mission Bhagiratha officials to make final arrangements for supplying drinking water to all habitations by August 15 and to all the individual houses by Deepavali.


He said that majority of work was completed under the Mission Bhagiratha and the remaining work should be completed on a war-footing. In a review on Mission Bhagiratha at Pragathi Bhavan here on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that once the treated water supply begins, officials should ensure that it would continue uninterruptedly.


As the work was nearing completion, once again work related to intake wells, water treatment plants, overhead service reservoirs, distributive pipelines, power sub-stations should be examined thoroughly. Mission Bhagiratha vice-chairman, secretary and engineer-in-chief should tour places where the pace of work was slow, he said.


Mr. Rao also spoke to couple of people’s representatives, officials, work agencies and enquired about the progress in the work and alerted them about completing them on time. As work was completed in 10 districts, the Chief Minister said Mission Bhagiratha scheme should be launched in those districts in a few days.
