Health Minister Dr C Laxma Reddy called on all public representatives to create awareness on the Telanganaku Kanti Velugu programme, the eye check-up and eye healthcare camps to be organised State-wide from August 15.

In a letter addressed to all MPs, MLAs, MLCs, zilla parishad chairpersons, heads of various corporations, district Rythu Samanvaya Samithi members, ZPTCs and MPPs, the Minister said the programme taken up under the directions of Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, is designed to help identify any vision related issues among people of the State. While arrangements are being made to ensure every individual in the State receives a free eye check-up, those who need eye glasses and medicines will be provided with them at the camps themselves. “The government is also making arrangements to ensure that anyone who requires eye surgery, will also receive this care and required treatment,” he said.

“The Kanti Velugu progamme is designed to ensure overall eye health of the people and as elected representatives, you should all create awareness about it in your respective constituencies and encourage people to undergo eye check-ups,” the Minister said in his letter.
