Telangana govt to unveil 3 welfare schemes on today

Telangana is first State in the country implementing the highest number of welfare schemes as the total number of welfare and developmental programmes crossed 300 plus with three more schemes to be launched on the occasion of Independence Day on Wednesday.  Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao will declare the launch of three flagship schemes -Rythu Bima (insurance scheme for farmers), Kanti Velugu (eye screening test) and 100 per cent subsidy loans to BC communities during his speech on the day.Under Rythu Bima, more than 27 lakh farmers have already been registered and the distribution of insurance bonds is also launched. The scheme will provide Rs 5 lakh insurance coverage to families of farmers who died. This scheme will come into force from August 14 midnight. Elaborate arrangements have also been made for the launch for Kanti Velugu Scheme, under which every citizen in Telangana will be provided facility to undergo eye test.


Government will also distribute medicines besides conducting eye operations, if required, free of cost. The eye testing camps will be organised for five months in the State roping into the entire medical and health department in the giant task. KCR will launch the scheme in Malkapur village in Medak district after participating in the Independence Day celebrations in Hyderabad.


Meanwhile, State Backward Classes Welfare Department is launching the self-employment scheme extending loans to the youth. Under the new scheme, loans up to Rs 50,000 will be provided 100 per cent subsidy to the beneficiary.Applications have been already flooded at the department which will take up scrutiny to identify genuine beneficiaries. Officials said that the three new schemes will put at least Rs 3,000 crore additional burden on State exchequer every year. As first installment, government already paid Rs 700 crore to the Life Insurance Corporation under Rythu Bima, Rs 200 crore for Kanti Velugu and Rs 600 crore under loan distribution programme for backward classes.
