KCR speech at Golconda Fort on Independence Day

Telangana CM K Chandrashekhar Rao has said Telangana State, that had been implementing human centric welfare schemes and progammes in the State, has emerged at the forefront as an ideal development model for the rest of the country.

Addressing the 72nd Independence Day celebrations from Golconda Fort here, the Chief Minister said the strides being made in the State on all fronts has helped Telangana State emerge as not just as one the nation can take pride in but has also been contributing to nation-building.

The Chief Minister, however, cautioned that some forces were continuing their efforts to sow divisions among people and destroy the unity in the society. There are some, who only for political gains, have been trying to create hurdles but we are facing these challenges with strength. “The government will not allow the hard-earned development and progress be undermined by such forces,” he said.

Chandrashekhar Rao said to ensure safety and security of citizens, the State police have put in place a facial recognition system to quickly identify people breaking the law or committing crimes. This system will also greatly help in searching for missing people, he added.

With respect to development of the city, the Chief Minister said the plans to develop Hyderabad as a global city were on track. The second phase of Metro Rail will be launched next month, he said, adding that the Strategic Road Development Plan was being implemented in the city with an aim to make signal-free roads a reality.

“Despite being a new State and facing several challenges, we have been alert to any potential actions by those aiming to create disturbances in the society. And we have succeeded in ensuring peace and political stability in the State. We have ensured that the financial situation in Telangana improves which can be seen from the average growth rate of 17.12 per cent. This has witnessed Telangana emerge as the top ranking state on this front.”
