Hyderabad: The Telangana state government has started moving in the direction of making annual bonalu festivities a gala festival. In its bid to take the festivities to a new level, the government has released Rs 10 crore, a big boost from Rs. 5 crores, last year. Endowments Minister A Indrakaran Reddy announced to the press here on Tuesday.

Convenience of the devotees is the key and we are making necessary arrangements in that front, he added. The funds will be used for civic and other works at temples, he answered to a media person.

Temples in Telangana would be decked up on the occasion of festivities commencing from June 25. Starting with 'Thotela' procession from Langar Houz crossroads to Sri Jagadamba Mahankali temple atop historic Golconda Fort, the festivities are sure to touch new heights.

Home Minister, who was also present at the pressmeet, said that the police department is making all the necessary arrangements for making the festival go on a smooth note. "Serious thought is put to offer 'bonam' to goddess Sri Kanakadurga atop Indrakeeladri in Vijayawada, and a decision will be taken soon", he concluded.
